Recalculating Your Route...

Enjoyed a super road trip this summer in my little Buick convertible!  We travelled through the beautiful states of Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado!   Along the way I gained a brand-new relationship with a gal named Hope!   (Okay, if the truth be told, Hope is actually my GPS-lady and I named her Hope).  But, every day of the trip we did lots of singing and talking together in that little car.  I probably did most of the talking because Hope is a good listener, and she only speaks when she has important ‘stuff’ to say.

Our conversations went something like this: “This road doesn’t look right, Hope!  Can I trust you?”   Hope’s responses were always crystal clear and ‘very’ confident. “Prepare to turn left in 400 feet.  Then in one mile merge right onto Highway I-60.  Recalculating the Route. . .”  (By the way, that happened every time I missed a turn, wanted to eat, needed a restroom or just didn’t trust Hope!)  “Now make a legal U-turn as soon as possible!  Recalculating your Route!  Your destination is on the right.”

“NO Hope, it’s not!  So, you just better recalculate that route again!  Okay?”

Wouldn’t it be great if we could navigate life with clear direction, like using legal U-turns and the innate ability to recalculate our route whenever life takes a wrong turn?  Imagine if some of our past choices would have immediately triggered an audible message to make a legal U-turn!  What about the unexpected health changes that caught us by surprise, those career detours that took a heavy financial toll, or the many relationships suddenly ending in death or divorce?

If you’ve struggled through a short season or a lifetime of accumulated loss in your life, I highly suggest finding a Rest Stop soon to grieve those losses.  Life is a daily adventure! The ups and downs of our mountain top experiences and valleys of despair keep us all on a rollercoaster of emotions!   As a Grief Recovery Specialist, my hope is you’ll take the necessary time and actions to grieve your life-losses completely.  The freedom that comes from grief recovery is very similar to the ‘Hope’ from my GPS when recalculating your future path forward!
